Biodata
Soham Mehta
Soham Mehta is a theatre and film artist based in Austin, Texas.
When he was four years old, his parents immigrated — on a plane — to Houston. Soham became interested in theatre soon after and acted in plays throughout school. He began writing and directing in high school. As an undergraduate, Soham entered UT as a film student but soon switched to theatre to get a better grasp of the fundamentals of acting, writing, and directing. He applied his undergraduate training by founding Shunya, a Houston-based theatre troupe dedicated to providing a voice to the South Asian American experience. After leading the troupe for four years, he felt that he had established a firm footing as a storyteller and was ready to return to the medium of film. Currently, pursuing his MFA in film production at UT, Soham is the recipient of the Warren Skaaren Fellowship.
Soham’s parents live in Houston, and the rest of his family still make their home in the motherland.
